About

Yoga Teacher

I found yoga while searching for relief from chronic lower back pain, beginning with chair yoga in a local senior center. Practicing alongside people of all ages and abilities revealed yoga as an accessible, grounding, and deeply healing practice.

What started as physical support quickly became a way to steady my mind, soften stress, and open my heart. As my practice deepened, I felt called to teach and to create a space where yoga, meditation, and spiritual support could come together.

That calling became Turning Point Yoga & Wellness—a community rooted in Peace, Love, and Joy, dedicated to helping people heal, reconnect, and focus on what matters most.

Spiritual Teacher/Coach

After 30 years as a social worker and educator, I expanded my path to include wellness coaching and yoga teaching to support people like you in creating a life you truly love—one rooted in peace, balance, and joy.

As a yoga teacher, coach, and lifelong guide, I am deeply passionate about engaging and energizing individuals to reconnect with themselves, release stress, and live with greater intention. My work blends mindful movement, breath, reflection, and practical tools that meet you where you are and support meaningful, sustainable change.

I founded Turning Point Yoga & Wellness to create a supportive space where people can find answers, recover from the demands of daily life, and refocus on what matters most—mind, body, and spirit.

After college, Rita served as a Jesuit Volunteer in Hartford, Connecticut, where she worked closely with underserved individuals living with HIV/AIDS. This formative experience shaped her lifelong commitment to compassionate care, advocacy, and service.

Rita spent nearly a decade as a social worker in community-based cancer treatment clinics, providing emotional and spiritual support, leading meditation, breathwork, and self-care programs, and organizing educational and fundraising initiatives. During this time, she began exploring energy work and spiritual teachings beyond her traditional upbringing, marking a profound shift in her personal and professional path.

Through further spiritual awakening and retreat experiences, Rita discovered her intuitive gifts and a deeper connection to Angels and loved ones in Spirit. She soon began sharing intuitive guidance with others, integrating these insights into her work.

Today, Rita is the Founder of Turning Point Yoga & Wellness, where she inspires individuals and communities to cultivate peace, love, and joy through yoga, meditation, and holistic wellness.

Rita holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Connecticut and a bachelor’s degree from John Carroll University. She is the author of “Nurturing Spirit through Complementary Cancer Care” in the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing and has contributed self-help and wellness writing to Elephant Journal, Medium, and Sivana East.
